There are places where dance feels closer to its origins—where movement is not only studied, but lived. Athens is one of those places.

From April 27 to May 9, 2026, Dances We Dance returns to Greece for The Art of Duncan & Delsarte, a two-week workshop dedicated to rediscovering the expressive roots of modern dance. Held at the historic Isadora and Raymond Duncan Dance Research Center, the program invites participants into a practice where gesture, breath, and musicality become a language of the inner life.

At the heart of this experience lies a dialogue between two powerful legacies.Isadora Duncan, whose work liberated dance from rigid form, sought movement that arises from nature, emotion, and the solar plexus—the center of life itself. Alongside her vision, François Delsarte’s system offers a profound understanding of how the body communicates meaning through gesture, intention, and presence.

Together, these approaches create a bridge between structure and freedom—between form and feeling.

Each day unfolds as a layered exploration:morning classes, repertory studies, creative process, and shared practice. Participants engage not only with historical material, but with their own expressive voice, culminating in an informal showing that brings together dancers, students, and community.

What makes this workshop unique is not only what is taught, but how it is experienced. The work develops progressively, inviting a deep immersion into movement as a living, evolving practice. Whether one arrives as a dancer, actor, artist, or simply a curious mover, the experience offers a space to reconnect with the body as an instrument of expression.

More than a workshop, it is a temporary community—rooted in generosity, curiosity, and the joy of dancing together.
